Prof. dr. sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, Director, Child Protection Centre of Zagreb, delivered the invited lecture “Child protection in criminal matters: How to secure an environment where children and juvenile victims or witnesses of crime feel safe” at the Multi- beneficiary workshop on the rights of children in criminal proceedings, held in Podgorica, Montenegro on  November 27-28,  2014. It was organized by the European Commission, in cooperation with the Judicial Training Centre of Montenegro.


The objective of the seminar was to exchange experience with all beneficiaries on rights, status and treatment of children in conflict with the law and to discuss child friendly procedures in investigations and hearings for child victims and witnesses of crime. IPA Beneficiaries of this project are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey.

Branka Lakocevic, General Director, Directorate General for Justice and Maja Milosevic, Executive Director, Judicial Training Centre of Montenegro welcomed the seminar.

Topic 4: police education and training on human rights, especially rights of the child and child protection by Mr Andre Konze, German Police University, Munster

Topic 5: Outlook on the “draft directive on procedural safeguards for children suspected or accused in criminal proceedings – COM (2013) 82” by Dr Tomasz Ostropolski Head of Unit, European Criminal Law Department of Criminal Law, Ministry of Justice, Warsaw
